When buying a home, many buyers focus on having their new home thoroughly inspected, checking out the neighborhood at various times of day and night, and talking with neighbors. Those are all smart things to do. What many fail to do however is to check the recent history of crime in the area. While the SFPD does offer a clunky crime mapping tool, I prefer CrimeReports.com which summarizes crime in any given area.
Check it out for an overview of crime in your area.

25 05 2010On May 7, 2010, the Governor signed SB 183, a bill that requires all single-family homes (that have fossil fuel burning appliances, fireplaces, or an attached garage) to be retrofitted with a carbon monoxide device (CO) on or before July 1, 2011—six months after the effective date of the bill. More details of the requirement can be found here.
